Originally from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Chris King enjoys
performing a wide variety of music around Central Florida and abroad,
ranging from traditional Jazz, to Funk, Pop, R&B, Salsa, Ska, and Hip-Hip.
He has been a seasonal cast musician for Walt Disney World since 2005, and
has has the pleasure of working with many local Orlando, and
nationally-touring popular music acts. He can be seen playing in the
Central Florida area with such groups as the Casablanca Orquesta, Johnny
Plastic & the Rubber Band, Sonido Criminal, the Frank Vardaros Jazz
Orchestra, and his own jazz quartet. To his credit are appearances as a
performer on both local and nationally-syndicated television programs. In
the past, he has been afforded the opportunity to perform with such artists
as Béla Fleck, Sam Rivers, and Tzimon Barto.
No stranger to other genres of music, Chris has made
appearances in trumpet sections of orchestras throughout the state of
Florida, and is a co-founding member of the brass quintet, Hornography,
which specializes in movie/TV music, and reaches out to the community
through both educational and comedy-based concerts. He has been in the pit
orchestra for many Central Florida musical theatre productions, and
exercises his versatility as a soloist in occasional chamber orchestra
programs around the state.
Chris is a member of the Central Florida Musicians’ Union
(AFM-389), has been teaching trumpet since 2003, and is currently on the
lesson faculty at Lake Mary Preparatory School, and Classic Rock School of
Music in the Waterford Lakes Town Center. While not performing or teaching,
he divides his time between duties as a composer/arranger, and brass
instrument repair technician. He attended Rollins College for his formal
musical education.
